The Church ~

Have you ever seen
A bride so fair?
The muck in her hair
Has a certain sheen

The way her gown is torn
And her purple hued eyes
Brings to mind
One better left unborn

Abed in her blood
And lying in her filth
An image of Lilith
Ere the Flood

Especially attractive
Are her many lovers
If they had their druthers
In waste she would ever live

But I see the gleam
Of her future life
This abandoned wife
Washes clean in God’s stream

Crimson waves leave no mark
Stripes of mercy bind and heal
Guilt no more will she feel
Only One wins her heart

Adorned in brightest gown
Seated by her King
Thorns be her ring
And Calvary her wedding vow

Now, look at her there!
Bought by blood is she!
Have you ever seen
A bride so fair?
